At
stijlnet.com we're not very knowledgeable or keen on buzzwords. Our
basic philosophy on web development is broadly simple and non-technical.
-
The
internet and subsequently the web is one of the greatest technological
developments that humanity has come up with for its own development
and betterment. It is a precious resource and access should not
be squandered or be deprived to any individual. Period! Every human
being should have the right to view and publish via the internet
through private or shared facilities. 'Spam' threatens to deny people
of this liberty and has no place whatsoever.
-
The
internet allows anyone, anywhere on the planet, the ability to offer
their goods, services, creativity or beliefs to a global audience.
Trade and access barriers operate in conflict with these new opportunities
-
Companies
purchasing goods or labour, either directly or indirectly, in a
foreign country for the purpose of financial saving are morally
obliged to finance social / charity projects in the applicable country
-
The
notion of Intellectual Property is a cornerstone of viable web development
BUT needs to be applied in a realistic manner. A new approach to
graphics / video / audio licensing, sampling and downloading needs
to be found fast and applied in an equitable and fair manner.
-
The
internet is still about real people behind automated sytems and
webmasters need to be able to effectively interact with one another
to pass highly targetted traffic through the network and deliver
a comprehensive, relevant and quality 'surfing'' experience to the
visitor. This includes offering a quality selection of 3rd party
links to a visitor for the occasions when more information may be
needed. These may be generalised in terms such as geographic, thematic,
accessibility etc
-
Salesmen,
tele-marketing, direct-mail, expensive offices, 'corporate' suits
and bull*h!t buzzwords devour finances and are out for the micro-operations
that the internet supports. Internet companies should operate on
the web and demonstrate by example the financial savings and opportunities
that are possible. Priorities for a responsible site should be increasing
resources, content, customer and technical support and freely provided
facilities to drive the expansion of the network
-
Persons
paid to represent another business or individual's interests on
the internet should responsibly take into consideration effective
maintenance, accessibility, SEO, active promotion, server space,
resources and script management. A good site design is only a good
environment for visitors once they have arrived to view recent content,
which is, by definition, best provided by the indivual or business
itself
-
Any
business or individual publishing on the net should do so with honesty
and integrity. Appropriate levels of customer support / remote assistance
should be available with paid services and affordable options for
those who require help.
-
The
provision or promotion of any site, goods or services should be
legal and in no way use or deny full access to the resources of
others except with permission
- The
individual should have the right to a surfing experience of one chosen
page at a time. Unitiated extra frames or pop-ups/ pop-unders diminish
this experience
- The
internet roxx!
