Hardware and Software Technicians

Location(s) : Onsite in various areas
Earnings range : Callout charge and £TBA per hour
Description : We have a number of users and clients based in the wider Manchester area and between them they have many onsite office computers that are of critical importance to business continuity. When things go wrong, need installing or upgrading, they often benefit from some hardware and software support from the experts and that is where we need people like you. You must have total integrity aswell as being able to provide prompt diagnosis and speedy first time solutions to hardware and software issues. Operating Systems are primarily XP and Vista with a few OS-X or Ubuntu machines and hardware and software will need to be fully configured according to a client's requirements. You should be highly knowledgeable in networking protocols, wired and wireless connections, security and data management issues and be capable of troubleshooting and securing small networks in addition to individual machines. Experience in PC repair, OEM PC assembly, bespoke OS and software configuration are essential; MCP, MCSE or equivalent would be an asset. You will also need a dedicated and well equipped workshop area, a full driving licence and your own transport.

We are currently trying to assemble a list of a limited number of trusted freelance hardware and software techs in various areas for our company and its local clients to use. We don't need a full time or on-call engineer or to be tied into maintenance contracts. What we do need are various freelance individuals or small companies that can cover onsite and workshop based repairs / upgrades / OS installation / configuration etc. as and when necessary.

Knowledge of OEM PC assembly, fault diagnosis, system repair, OS installation, security and networking protocols etc are essential. Formal qualifications are great but we're looking for people with experience. As we all know, no two problems are identical so we don't want some of our small business clients using the first company they find or to be relying on 'friends of friends' who may have enthusiasm to help but often don't have sufficient knowledge or professionalism in business to effect a speedy solution.

We need people who already work at this in the course of their current employment and any jobs for Digital Freedom Ltd. or its clients would be as part of your own self employed business and an invoice submitted to our company or a specific client for any jobs undertaken.

Some work could be onsite and some collect and return so you'd preferably have both transport and a dedicated workshop room. If you're interested and if you have the skills then get in touch. In the first instance we'd need to know the following details.
